STEELWORK DESIGN

We deliver design of steel structures to Eurocode 3, British Standards and Steel Construction Institute publications. Ultimately, it is our legal responsibility to design a structure that is safe and which conforms to the requirements of the standards and codes of practice motioned above.

The object of structural design is to produce a structure that will not become unserviceable or collapse in its lifetime, and which fulfils the requirements and fit for purpose of the client and user at reasonable cost.

The advantages of steel are high strength, high stiffness and good ductility, combined with relative ease of fabrication and competitive cost. Steel is most often used for structures where loads and spans are large and therefore it is not often used for domestic architecture. Typical steel structure examples are buildings, factories, units, bridges, towers, pylons, floors, roofs, portal frames. If our client is satisfied with the layout and estimated cost, then we prepare the detailed design calculations and drawings. Our submitted design documents shall be adequate to detail, fabricate and erect the structure.
