45 MW biomass power plant at Templeborough, Rotherham
Brite Partnership North East has awarded the £150m contract to build the plant to the Interserve and Babcock & Wilcox Vølund joint venture. Commercial director of Interserve Andy Jarman stated: “Projects of this type are highly technical and challenging, requiring key expertise to construct, operate and maintain”.
Currently Adesol provides design solutions to lead designer Tata Steel Projects (TSP) on design of the 45 MW biomass power plant at Templeborough, Rotherham. Upon completion in the second quarter of 2017, the plant will produce energy from locally sourced waste wood and will power up to 70,000 homes. This will result in an annual carbon dioxide reduction of 360 tonnes.
TSP has demonstrated its expertise in the planning, design and construction of several types of renewable energy facilities and have prepared designs for 6 Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities previously. Therefore, it is great experience opportunity for Adesol to contribute design of this complex facility while working with TSP. Adesol will provide design solutions on highways & drainage and civil & structural engineering during the nine months of contract period.
Avonmouth Energy Recovery Facility (ERF)
Civil works design of the £252 million Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) in Avonmouth. Once operational the Centre will use safe, environmentally sustainable and reliable technology to divert 320,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste away from landfill. The ERF will also generate up to 32MW of electricity which will power the facility itself and export enough energy to power around 44,000 homes. Vedat delivered design of 30000 cubic meter of reinforced concrete on time on budget for the project.
